Occasionally, Claire's Critters has adoption events for very special critters. All homes and owners are carefully reviewed before adopting out animals. If you have any questions about an animal up for adoption, please contact us at rescues@clairescrittersaz.org.

Freya

the word _adopted_ with hearts around it.jpg

Freya is a beautiful girl that is young in body and in heart. It is unclear what type of dog she is but she is estimated to be around 6 months old. She has been living in the Tonopah desert for several weeks and needs the love and care of a real home. She loves all sorts of foods, belly rubs, and head scratches. She is a shy girl but once she gets to know you, she loves to be everywhere you are. She gets along with other dogs and but needs training as every puppy does. If you are looking for a wonderful family dog, please consider adopting Freya into your home.

Please scroll for more pics of Freya. She is being brought to the Maricopa animal shelter in Phoenix to be spayed. After that, she will be ready for adoption!

Update May 25th 2026

Freya was adopted! Claire does not have information on who adopted her but she found out from the shelter that she got a loving home just days after she was there. Congratulations Freya!

Tiger and Cleo

Tiger and Cleo are two of five girls that showed up at the back door when their mama brought them from the mountains. Cleo and Tiger are a bonded pair so they will not be adopted separately. Cleo is short for Cleopatra due to her beautiful eyes and strong personality. Tiger has beautiful stripes and is very much a cuddler, unlike her sister. To read more about Tiger and Cleo, please visit the Rescues page.

Update Jun 29th 2025

Tiger and Cleo have been adopted to a loving home who is taking wonderful care of them. Cleo continues to be a bit skittish while Tiger is always the cuddler. Cleo and Tiger are set to be spayed and will get lots of love and toys after that. Thank you to Angel and her grandma for providing a home for two very lucky kittens!

Oliver

Oliver was found in the backyard of Claire's Critters one morning curled up on an old dog bed in the yard. He had a hurt foot and was frightened, but not aggressive. It took a few days to gain Oliver's trust and be able to pet and feed him. We believe he was dumped on the property overnight and he did have a home before he showed up.

Oliver has grown to be one cool cat. He is friendly with strangers and dogs at this point and is very mellow. Claire's Critters would keep him in a heartbeat but is at maximum capacity with 6 cats. He has no predatory drive and likes to relax inside or outside along with the other animals. He enjoys having a chat while following you, then sitting politely along with the dogs to share a delicious jerky treat. Oliver is in overall good health and his foot is completely healed.

Oliver is an awesome, friendly cat that deserves a second chance after being abandoned from his previous home.

Update March 6th 2026
Oliver 1.jpg

Oliver ended up needing more medical treatment after his foot healed. He came home one day with an abscess under his eye that required vet and home care. He ended up being so charming that Claire fell in love with him and ended up deciding to adopt him. He now has a furever home at Claire's Critters where is living the life he always deserved to have.
